I chose to play hockey for my high school because I wanted to be part of a school where my teammates were and we had the common goal of representing our school. It was also important to me to play other sports during high school because I believe that makes a better hockey goalie. My secondary sport is tennis - specifically doubles. I worked my way from #3 doubles my freshman year to a doubles state championship my junior year. Working on my quick reflexes at the net has improved my reaction time on the ice. I am more confident taking on the hard shots from my opponents, no matter where they are on the ice.
I have also attended a leadership conference every summer since middle school. I enjoy making new friends from other schools and we have a great time doing activities and getting to know each other. These leadership skills have made me a better teammate in tennis and hockey. I am good at making all members of the team feel respected and I am good at listening to my teammates. I enjoy planning and/or participating in activities that help develop our team chemistry. My teammates know how committed I am to the team and that helps us all work together to achieve our team goals.
