Cheetah speed with the spirit of a wolf, Teen Wolf that is. I first discovered Lacrosse during my Junior year of High School while watching one of my guilty pleasures, a show called Teen Wolf. The show features a Boy’s Lacrosse Team. The games were fast paced, aggressive and exciting. I thought to myself, “I totally want to do that!”. As fate would have it, my High School had a Girl’s Lacrosse Team which had available positions to be filled. I went to try-outs with absolutely no knowledge of the sport and no expectations. I picked up a stick on that first practice and instantly fell in love.
I am not afraid to challenge myself and push myself beyond the minimum standards. I set goals that I know are going to take a significant amount of effort and dedication. I never give up even when failure seems inevitable. I knew that starting a new sport more than halfway through High School would put me at a huge disadvantage, but I was determined to catch up to my teammates with more experience. So everyday I picked up my stick and practiced for hours improving my skills. While my friends were lounging on the couch, sleeping in and enjoying their summer break, I was grinding and gaining knowledge of the game to come back in my Senior year looking every bit the part of an experienced Lacrosse player. Lacrosse has become so much more than a fun way to stay athletic; it has become a part of me.
Given the opportunity to play Lacrosse at the collegiate level is definitely an expectation I will strive to achieve. I am competitive and goal oriented. Some of my greatest attributes are my loyalty, dependability and positive attitude. Because of my determination, I will always stay focused and venture to make an impact. I expect to achieve excellence in my course of study as well as on the Lacrosse Field.
