Hello, my name is Margo Mallory and I am in the class of 2025. Growing up, I have always known I wanted to be a college athlete. My dad is a College Football coach, so I have been around his players and I would observe the traits it takes for somebody to be a great student-athlete. I have also learned things that you can't teach like effort and attitude. These traits have carried over to help me with my academics too as I have a 4.0 GPA and am ranked first in my class.
I have been playing soccer for 11 years. I have played multiple positions on offense and defense. Most of the past 5 years, I have played winger or striker. I am aggressive and fast and I loved scoring and setting my teammates up for goals. My first 2 seasons in high school, I led my team in goals and assists. A year ago, I changed positions to play on defense. As an outside back, I am able to make runs up the field, take players 1 on 1 and distribute passes to the mid fielders. I am mentally tough and have a high soccer IQ and I am decisive when passing. I am a 3 year Varsity starter for my high school team. I am a team leader and I was recognized with the honor of being our Team Captain my junior year. I believe I do a good job at making my teammates feel comfortable and have fun all while working hard and getting the job done at practice. During games, I communicate to all positions on the field with helpful and encouraging words. I am a very coach-able athlete and my coaches can depend on me to listen, follow their directions and also to be a leader at all times on and off the field. I strive to be the best and I work to create an environment where hard work is valued by everyone.
In the classroom, I maintain a 4.0 GPA by studying hard and putting my academics first. I am a Honors/AP student and on the Exceptional High Honor Roll at my school. I am a Peer Educator and I am involved in many groups like our Student Athletic Council, Hall of Distinction Committee, Link Crew, Dance Marathon, Student Council and I am a part of my school's Tribe, which supports all our athletic teams. I also help my high school soccer team run a kiddie soccer camp for future soccer players.
I want to attend a college where I can work hard and be successful in the classroom and on the field. I want to find a college where I enjoy the atmosphere and feel at home. I also want to find a school where I can help challenge my teammates and be on a team that pushes me as well so I can become the best athlete I can be. My goals for college are to earn a degree, win a championship for my team, make life-long friendships and enjoy my time as a student-athlete!
Fun Fact - We have a lot of student-athletes in my family. My dad played Football at the University of Michigan, my mom played Tennis at Ball State University and my brother is a Football player at Indiana State University. My papa, my uncles, my aunt and several cousins are all former D-1 college athletes too.
