Personal Statement
I love swimming; I have been swimming since I was 6 years old. Currently I am a member of three teams; high school, summer league, and year around swim club.
On the summer league, I am a junior coach for kids 4-6 years old and I love to teach them how to swim and watch them succeed. Being a junior coach has taught be to be a role model by displaying good sportsmanship, optimism and a leader.
During high school and year around club I motivate my teammates during training and at swim meets. I encourage and empower incoming underclassmen on my high school team by leading by example; I cheer on my teammates and have their back. I empathize with uprising 7th graders because my first year on the varsity high school swim team was very lonely. I was the only 7th grade original Jet (my high school opened in 2012). I persevered though the challenges of being a young Jet and received my varsity letter as a 7th grader. From these challenges, I have learned how to empower other young Jets to overcome vast age differences and strive to succeed in a highly competitive environment.
I am currently a junior at James Clemens High School with a high cumulative and weighted GPA. I am very involved at school; I am in many clubs including National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta(Math Honor Society), Science National Society, National Beta Club, and Latin Club. I aspire to go into medical school and be a forensic pathologist.
I yearn to swim and compete at the collegiate level. I will bring dedication, devotion, hard work, and sportsmanship to my collegiate team.
I am very excited to start training at the collegiate level. I can't wait to start a structured weight training course with professional trainers. Until now, I have not commenced a weight training program.
I would love the opportunity to become part of a competitive collegiate swim team so I can be a asset to the team.
