Kayla Rompala '25 Recruiting Profile

• My name is Kayla Rompala, a junior at Lincoln-Way Central High School in New Lenox, Illinois. I have participated on the varsity level swim team all three years. At the age of seven, I decided to try out for the Lincoln Way Swim Association (LWSA) Gators Club Team. I have been swimming for this club team ever since, about 10 years. 

Starting in high school, I decided to participate for the school water polo team. I felt this was a good opportunity to open doors in other sports, build strength, and continue team relationships. As a freshman I played on the junior varsity level. Even though I participated on the junior varsity team again as a sophomore, I was asked to play along with the varsity team for several tournaments. 

Swimming has always been a big part of my life. My parents have always told me that I was an exceptional swimmer from a young age and I loved being in the water. Therefore, when the opportunity to join a swim team came available I was excited to accept the challenge. 

I love how swimming focuses on individual achievements as well as team achievements. There is this constant collaboration and sportsmanship that comes along with swimming. Swimming and just being in any sort of water has always given me a sense of peace no matter how much pressure is on me. I can’t wait to continue and grow as a swimmer while swimming in college!
