Swimming is a sport I stumbled upon at the tender age of three years old. Due to chronic asthma, my pediatrician advised my parents to enroll me in swimming to expand my lungs. I took to the water like a "duck" (as my mother says). Swimming was my opportunity to play and have fun. As I matured in the sport, I enjoyed traveling, competing, and meeting other swimmers.
I faced many obstacles along the way, which has only pushed me further in my goal to become a student of the sport and excel in my events.
Beyond swimming, serving others is my passion. I am actively involved in my church, which I regularly sing in. I am actively involved with the children's program, and I will be one of the presenters at the second annual Women's conference. I play the piano and write poetry and short stories during my free time. I adore animals, enjoy staying active, and I am adamant about helping others.
As a student/athlete, I cherish learning. Enjoy helping my team excel, and certainly understand the concept of hard work and commitment.
My favorite subjects are the social sciences. I am still deciding on my career path, but I am leaning toward journalism, communication, political science, or the law.
