Personal Statement
I started my Track and Field career in seventh grade and I've never looked back. I discovered my passion for High Jumping when a coach introduced me to it after noticing how high I was jumping over the hurdles. From there my love for both sprinting and high jumping grew, and I've been working to improve both my own records and that of the team ever since. After my high school career I hope to continue my passion by working harder than ever in the collegiate level.
As I've grown with my team, I've found myself able to lead them through my unmistakable determination. I'm always ready to take any tips from my coaches, and pass those tips along to my teammates. Though my coaches aren't experts and my team is humble, we've been able to grow together and improve both my personal records and the team as a whole. I look to become even more serious in track by joining a club team in order to prove myself more than ever.
Off the track, I consider my grades and work ethic to be very important to me. I don't consider myself to be naturally smart but am able to maintain high grades among both regular and honors subjects. I have great enthusiasm for both language and the arts, and I hope to continue this zeal in my college education. I am involved in more than just track--I also participate in school musicals, robotics club, dance club, Irish Sister Cities club, and I am the editor-in-chief of our school's Literary Art Magazine.
I am currently studying abroad in Costa Rica, fulfilling my dream to become an exchanged student. This experience has truly opened my eyes to the world and helped me become a more independent, confident person. This is another example of my hard work and determination, as I worked endlessly to be accepted into my study abroad program, as well as working over the summer as a Lifeguard to pay for it.
My ideal college is a place that allows me to push myself not just on the field but in the classroom and allow me to continue realizing my great passion for high jump and sprinting, travel, language, and arts. I have no physical preferences for which college I am accepted into, only that they are a college were I can continue growing as a sprinter and jumper, an artist and thinker, and as a citizen of the world.
