Personal Statement
Anyone who knows me will say that I am a hard working athlete, and have the heart and drive to go after what I want. I am very dedicated to things I love, which one of them being this sport. Running is my passion, and I enjoy the hard work because it is something I love. My main goals in high school are to be a good athlete, and maintain high grades. I never give up, and never stop working hard. Each race getting into my block is a peaceful moment knowing that all my hard work is about to pay off. I've only competed as a varsity sprinter, and I like to compete in multiple events such as long jump, the 100, 200, 400, as well as these relays. My coach would tell anyone that I never stop working hard, and the only way to make me stop is if he tells me to. I do not ever give up, I want to better myself everyday/meet. He admires my determination and effort towards bettering myself each day. I train year round doing speed training and lifting, and have been since 6th grade. I made my goal last year being a freshman and making it down to State in the 4 by 100 relay competing in the Illinois 3A Division. My drive to succeed applies to school as well. I strive to keep my GPA above a 4.0, and go out of my way to get good grades while working out and training year round as well as being a two sport athlete. I have started Cross Country in order to get in high quality training before track season starts. Doing cross country will make me better for this upcoming track season. While running distance, I do sprinting work during practice to keep my speed. I am a well rounded athlete, and even though I am a sprinter, I have no problem going the distance. I will do whatever a coach thinks will help me or be best for me. I am versatile and willing to do anything. It is important to be open to different options, and being positive to set a good example for a team. I believe even though track is a somewhat individual sport, you can't win without your team. It is important to help your teammates, and share what you know to make them better too. In other words, be a leader. I am always up for a challenge, and my dream is to run track at the collegiate level. I love to train, and will work with anybody who thinks they can help. I will do whatever it takes to get there. I know I would be a great addition to any team, and I am a VERY coachable athlete.
