Personal Statement

Hi, my name is Raina Rice. I have been running 4 years and have committed to becoming the best that I can be. I am self-motivated and strive to make myself and my teammates better. I have qualified the past 4 summers (2015-2019) for the USATF National Junior Olympics and AAU National Junior Olympics in the 800, 1500, 3000-meter runs. In the summer of 2019, I competed in the 2000 Steeple Chase and medaled at the AAU National Championships in North Carolina. I have competed in Cross Country at the varsity level during my Freshman and Sophomore years accomplishing All-Conference and All-Regional honors. As a Freshman, I also competed at the varsity level in Track and Field and earned All-Conference and All-Sectional honors.

My goal is to be part of a running team that is positive and competitive enough to win in big venues. I take my sport very seriously and I have excellent workout habits, and understand the importance of strength training. I like to lead by example and motivate my teammates to do their best. I believe I would be a good fit for your school because I have experience competing against the best of the best around the country. I always give 100% not only in running, but in my academics as well. As a Presidential award recipient, I made the honor roll every quarter in middle school and my academic goal for high school is to continue making the honor roll every year.
