Mariama Gillespie '16 Recruiting Profile

My name is Mariama Gillespie and, I will be a Junior at Wayzata High School this fall. I love being a thrower because, it allows me to feed my competitive nature. I have been throwing for the past 4 years and found it to be quite rewarding on and off the field. I am a person who does not use excuses to define me, as you look at my transcript provided I've had some academic bumps in the road. Also you will note that there has been a constant progression towards academic achievement. I use this same dedication as I practice my throwing techniques in the Shot Put, Javelin, and Discus. I am an asset to any team I'm on because, I bring a positive attitude and a winners mentality. My goals are to get better and better each time I throw. I also plan to throw at the college level while earning my degree in psychology and singing in the choir.
