Personal Statement
My name is Taylor Marin and I am a 2014 grad from Phoenix, AZ. I am an athletic DS/Libero and have been competing for Charleston Southern University looking to transfer for the 2015 season. I want to transfer so I can be closer to home and more of a bigger campus feel. Last season at CSU I played 67 sets overall and 31 conference sets and started once in conference play. Academically as a freshman at CSU I have a 3.2 GPA overall. Athletically I am passing a 2.12, and a fast aggressive defensive DS/Libero. I am passionate about the game and take my training both on and off the court very serious. When I am in Phoenix, I train three times a week with Mark my PT; I have been training with Mark for over 3 years.
I am coming on the tail end of my freshman year here at CSU under scholarship as a Libero/DS. It has been a great experience for me and I have grown so much as a person and student athlete studying Graphic Design. Competing is what I love to do, it's like breathing for me!!
I am exploring my 2015 transfer options and am very interested in attending and playing at a competitive program. I am a hard worker and a team-oriented player with a passion to win and take my game to the next level. I have competed in D1 volleyball last season and over the spring. I am very interested and believe I have the experience and drive to impact in a competitive volleyball program.
A little about me:
Coaches have said, I am a self-motivated student athlete with a Love of the Game!! I have an infectious high energy personality on the court and strive to bring that positive energy not only to the match but every day in practice!! I not only work hard on the court but also off the court and in the classroom. I currently have a 3.2 GPA at CSU. I pride myself in trying to be in the very best physical condition I can in order to compete at my highest level. Being a defensive specialists requires so much lower body strength, agility and coordination and my team deserves the best. So I try to work as much as I can on this whenever possible. Below you'll find a couple youtube videos. The first is my Senior year in D-2 State Playoffs where we faced Queen Creek, you may recognize their outside hitter, Jasmine Hanna who competes for Coach Tom at Colorado State University. The second is my Junior year facing the State Championship Team of 2014 Sunnyslope Vikings. The third is a small clip of my summer workout sessions with my conditioning coach.
I have a great player coach relationship with Coach Mooberry so I promised I would return after the holidays and plan my transfer after the spring season. I would love more than anything to come meet you all after my spring season is over here at CSU. I have followed all NCAA regulations and received my release from CSU on March 25, 2015.
Thank you so much for considering me as a possible Libero / DS in your program, I look forward to hearing from you!!
