Personal Statement
Success is believing that you are the best but also knowing that there is always room to improve and that there will always be things that you can learn from others. This is what I live by. It gives me the confidence that I need and the respect for the people around me. I am the captain of my team and I make sure to re-iterate this idea with my teammates. Above all, I believe that the most important thing for a team is to be a family because if you don't have a connection off of the court, the team will never play together to its fullest potential and as a unit. My desire to play for college is so strong that I practice 4 times a week 2-4 hours a day on a 17 national team, at the age of 15, and I have no problem practicing more because I know that hard work and dedication is needed to become a great athlete. Although my life is FILLED with volleyball, I am also very committed to my schoolwork. I love challenging myself to learn new things. My interests are in biology and topics in writing. I know that these things are very far apart but I also feel that they are very important to me. I want to study pre-medicine in college and am planning to take extra science courses to be prepared because when I am interested in a topic or activity, I throw myself at it to make sure that I always achieve my goals. I am a very family oriented person so when I am not at school, practice or volunteering my time however I can, I will be with my mom, dad and little sister. Ever since I was 2 months old I have lived the other half of my life in the ocean. It is where my family and I can get away because at the end of the day, what is most important to me is the relationships that I have built with the people closest to me, my teammates included.
