Personal Statement
I have been involved in sports since age 5. I started playing volleyball in the eighth grade. I love competition and always try to do my best and improve during every practice, game, or scrimmage. My high school varsity coach always says "Practice makes permanent" I like to live by this quote because every touch you get with a ball is vital to your skill. Every chance you get to make a play you want to be able to do your best. I also think attitude is a main component of being a good teammate and player. Always remaining positive and keeping the game going helps to keep up energy and inspire your team. Every time my coaches give me a tip to help improve my game, I work my hardest to do what they are saying. Being able to be "coachable" is something I've always believed is important.
Being a full time athlete and full time student has its challenges. Balancing school, practice, games, etc. is hard but it's always been a goal of mine to put school first. I love to play but school is always first and the coaches I have really help my teammates and I remain focused on school while still being able to devote ourselves to the game. I hope to attend a school that will challenge me academically and lead me on my way to my dream career while also allowing me to compete in volleyball.
As an athlete I've witnessed first hand how injuries can bring down a player in an instant. Seeing close friends and even myself at times be brought down by injuries made me want to choose a career that will enable me to help people. I would like to major in a medical profession, specifically Physical Therapy. I want to be able to help people and see them go back to doing what they love.
