My name is Cecilia Jenkins, but everyone calls me Cece. I am from Ewa Beach, Hawaii and have been playing soccer since I was 6 years old. I have 5 members in my ohana (family) including myself. The first time that I fell in love with the game would be when I scored my first goal during an AYSO game. The adrenaline was unforgettable and all I wanted to do from that point was keep scoring.
Today, I play for Surf Hawaii Soccer Club as a defensive and offensive central mid-fielder and still play with the same fire as if I was about to score my first goal again. My team and I have traveled to Thanksgiving Surf Cup, Las Vegas Players Showcase, Slammers Tournament, and also Summer Surf Cup. In the 2016 Summer Surf Cup, we advanced to the semi-finals, but unfortunately lost to Davis Legacy, who ended up winning the title in the GU16 Super White Bracket. I have also guest played with Anaheim Surf 01, West Coast FC 01, Crossfire 01, and Leahi 01.
I attend ‘Iolani College Prep in Honolulu, Hawaii, the 31st best high school in the country per BestColleges.com. I enjoy my science and math courses because I want to pursue a career in nursing. I will be just as excited about attending my college courses as I will be to be on the pitch. Athletically, I was promoted as a freshman to varsity as a defensive mid. My team and I recently won the Hawaii High School State Championship game in 2017 and defeated Punahou 2-1.
When I am not working on my studies or my game, I coach 7-10 year old girls with Patton Sports Performance. I love to help coach younger players because I want to give back to the kids, so that one day they could go as far as they want in pursuing their dreams in soccer. For fun, I enjoy hiking the beautiful trails that we have in Oahu. One of my favorite hikes to walk up would be the Lanikai Pillbox which are old WWII era defense installations which now make for incredible spots to enjoy the scenery. Finally, I always enjoy quality time with my family at the beach or at the park.
Thank you for considering me for your team and university.
