A interesting thing about me is I only started playing in the 8th grade, everyone was pretty amazed when I played, it only being my first year. I instantly fell in love with the game. Going into my freshman year I was the starting setter for our junior varsity team along with being a starter on my schools varsity team,. A team were there were we were heavily skilled and advanced. It humbled me in my position, taught me a lot, gave me a different outlook on the game and made me see it a totally different way, pushed me to be better, and gave me the leadership qualities I now use being the junior captain on my varsity team. My freshman year my team won the state championship. My following sophomore year I was second setter in a two setter rotation with a very skilled first setter who had a killer arm swing. She was our only senior that year playing with a whole team of sophomores and freshman. So it pushed me play like a senior, and I gave it my absolute all every play to give every one of my hitters, hit-able balls so that our team could be successful. Going into my junior year which is the 2018 season I got an even bigger responsibility as captain and the glue of our team, this season was the one where are very talented libero had become injured and that recalled tested the whole team, but especially my character and taking on even more responsibility then I was before. If you were to ask anyone on the team how to describe my play they would definitely say the worlds of loud, passionate through my play on and off the court, determined, and great court awareness. Being so young we didn’t have very consistent hitters so as a setter a lot of our points came from me being able to use my court awareness and put the ball we’re players aren’t. That’s one of my favorite aspects of my game. I’m not the most skilled but I’m a sponge coming from a small private school in a small town we do not get very much attention I take every opportunity to play my heart out every single game and or practice learning new techniques to be more skilled in my position, and having our assistant coach being a physical therapist is such a blessing because she is the queen of body mechanics and when something isn’t going right she’s gonna work you and tell you how to fix it. I’m not the best at my position but I have the most heart and pride in my position and never my play and if I could get an opportunity to demonstrate my ability I would be nothing but grateful. God bless, thank you.
