Personal Statement

Hello! My name is Morgan Baufield and volleyball has been my passion since I was in third grade. My main position is middle hitter, but I have a lot of versatility, and I have played almost every position with determination to be the best.

For the fall season I play for Wayzata High School, the largest high school in the state. We are in the Lake Conference, which most people say is the toughest conference in Minnesota. I was pulled up from Junior Varsity to Varsity my freshman year of high school to practice with the Varsity team during Sections. My sophomore year, I was a starting middle hitter on Varsity playing front row and back row. I helped to lead our team to Section Runner-Up. I was awarded with All-Conference Honorable Mention and for my school I was given the Outstanding Teammate Award.

I have played club volleyball for Minnesota Select for as long as I’ve been playing club. For the past two years, our team has worked hard to qualify Open for nationals. Both years we have placed top 30 in the nation. This club season we are preparing to try to qualify once again, and this time place top 10. We have a wonderful team dynamic and playing with them helps me to become a better teammate, player and person.

I’ve always had a dream of playing in college and helping the team I play for become better and more successful. Playing volleyball for a school I love is the number one goal I have in my life.

My sister played Division 1 volleyball in college, and she is one of the most influential people in my life. She is probably one of the reasons I developed such a strong love for the game.

In the classroom, I work hard to try my best at all of my classes and learn as much as I can. I have a GPA of 3.8 and I will continue to receive the best grades. I know that education is an important part of my future. Another goal is to graduate in 4 years and receive my college degree.
