Personal Statement
My name is Hannah Hargrove and I am a Junior at Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe, New Mexico. My freshman year of high school, I started playing volleyball on my schools C-team, deciding to try something new after 10 years of playing competitive soccer. After a couple of weeks, I was moved up to the JV team, and as a Sophomore I started on the varsity team. With only one years prior experience, I made All District Second Team my sophomore year. I am six feet tall and play middle blocker/hitter. Currently, I am ranked number two for blocking in my district. Last year I played for a competitive club team in Rio Rancho, about an hour away from my home. I tried out for and made the team for my age group, however, by the end of the season I was playing up one age group. I earned MVP of the Team at the Regional Qualifying Tournament, Colorado Crossroads, and was nominated as a Triple Crown Standout Athlete by an opposing Team.
Since middle school, I have participated in Track and Field but have chosen to give it up in order to pursue a volleyball scholarship. I love the sport and am willing to work very hard on the court, and in the classroom to achieve my goals of playing at the next level. I am currently taking three AP classes and am a member of the National Honor Society. I have participated in the Junior National Young Leadership Conference traveling to both Washington, D.C.and Boston with my peers to learn to be a positive leader and role model. I enjoy pushing myself in the classroom and hold myself to high standards when it comes to my education. I am very interested in pursuing a career in journalism. I am currently an editor on my high school yearbook, and work well with people.
