Personal Statement
I fully understand that attending College is a privilege and not a right. I am one of five children in a Military family. From an early age, I remember my father talking to me about how important an education is to my future. Being in a Military Family and traveling all over the United States and abroad. I have faced many hardships growing up with my father being deployed six times to both Iraq and Afghanistan. It has helped me to be a more resilient and independent person. I have seen and met some of life’s fortunate and not so fortunate people and the impact that a higher education had on their lives and the opportunities it provided or not provided them. I have watched both of my parents struggle and sacrifice in order to put my three older siblings through college. It is my goal to continue mine and my families’ desire to attending college and obtaining my dreams of playing collegiate level volleyball and becoming a Dentist.
I was interested in volleyball from an early age by my father. I would watch him play all the time when I lived in Europe. He would always make time to bump the ball with me until I got to age where I wanted to play competitively. I have played competitive volleyball for the past four years. It has taught me loyalty, duty, respect, and selflessness. I am extremely loyal and devoted to both my teammates and school work. Duty, I will give you no less than 100% and full fill my obligations and accept responsibility for my actions and find opportunities to improve myself for the good of the team. I am no stranger to hard work and commitment, I travel 1 ½ hours to practice one way to practice three days a week and still maintain a 3.81 GPA. Respect, not only for the game but for people in general. I am very passionate about treating others as I want to be treated; this has been instilled in me by my parents. Putting others needs before your own is selflessness which leads to teamwork and a sense of commitment. For example, I have helped my father and his Soldiers in feeding the homeless at the Salvation Army Center and volunteered my time wrapping gifts during the holidays to Soldiers and their family members.
When I am not playing volleyball or studying for school, I find enjoyment from hanging out with my friends and listening to music. I am an outgoing fun loving person.
