Katelyn Schneider '17 Recruiting Profile

I want to go to college to play Volleyball and major in Pediatric Oncology Nursing. I would be a good candidate for your team because I am a fighter and I never give up, I always strive to be the best on the court because there is no limit on how much you can achieve and grow as a player and also as a person. I believe I am different from other recruits because my story is not like others, when I was a freshman in high-school I got diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I had to turn down many offers to play for certain club teams, due to the fact my cancer treatment was harsh and made me very weak, I had to leave school and do online and lived with my grandparents because my younger siblings could have made me very ill. It was a very hard time for me but I fought, I believed and I made it! At this time volleyball was coming back up, I had to push myself harder than anyone because I was obviously the weakest one, after weeks of running, working out and lots of lifting, I got my strength back, even better than before. All in all, what I am trying to say is that no matter what is thrown my way, I will never give up and I will always strive to be the best. I can handle anything you toss at me and that's a promise, because I'm still breathing and I plan on making every breath count.
