I started Volleyball about 4 years ago (serious for 2 years). I lived in Utah for 13 years and was constantly jumping sports, then I found volleyball and I fell in love!! I started to get serious the end of elementary school and did occasional camps at a sports facility, then covid hit. I ended up moving to Tennessee and having to start again with finding a place to train. My mother and I found k2 Volleyball camp and it clicked, I started camps as soon as possible. In my 8th grade year I tried out for the middle school volleyball team and got rejected, I didn’t give up and continued doing camps at k2 volleyball club for a year. High school appeared and I tried out for the team, rejected again. I transferred schools because of my moms job and tried out at the new school. I didn’t make it but I didn’t get rejected. I was offered a job as the team manager. The deal was that I was able to practice with the team but not participate in any games, or so I thought. Practice was denied to me but I wanted to show dedication so next year I could earn a spot on the team. The coach ended up getting fired and as I was going to enroll for another k2 camp I found out they do a local travel team. I enrolled in that and was really starting to develop skills. I played winter and spring season. School season came around again, I tried out again and made it as starting JV. The season was going great! Then near the end of the season I got a 3rd degree high ankle sprain with a slightly torn ligament. I was devastated. I was so crushed but never gave up. I was cleared to start playing after 3 months and started another season of K2 volleyball club. The seasons was going great. I could see serious development in my skill and attitude after every practice and game. One day after practice my ankle started to hurt and swell up and I knew something was wrong. I went in for a MRI and I tore ligaments. Another devastation, I basically got full reconstructive surgery (3 torn ligaments, cartilage liquid cyst, 1 plate, 3 screws and 3 anchors). I’m not cleared until late July, once I am back on the court I will be working harder than ever to pursue my dream. I will be doing private coaching lessons and training. I am hoping to make it to a 3rd or 2nd (1st would be a prayer come true) division college as a middle hitter.
