Personal Statement
To best describe who I am as a volleyball player, I would like you to know that I was named all-conference my freshmen season even though I was a 5'5” freshmen starting on varsity and playing every point of every match. I ended the season with over 300 kills and a .243 hitting percentage. As a sophomore, I had grown to 5'7” and I had 426 kills, hit .291, and averaged 3.6 kills/game. I am a very effective hitter, but I am better at passing and serving. From the first time I played club volleyball at age 11, I had a knack for passing the volleyball. I was the libero, even though I had never played the sport before. I have always had the ability to pass the volleyball and that skill has just grown stronger.
To best describe who I am as a volleyball player, I would also like you to know as a sophomore, my team was a game away from State, and we lost in a heart-breaker. There were a lot of tears, and I was very sad to know I would not be playing with the seniors again; however, early the next morning, I got out of bed and went to work out and lift weights all on my own. I have a ton of determination and a burning desire to improve which means when I do not have practice or a match, you will find me in the gym or driveway working out and working on my game.
To best describe who I am as a volleyball player, I would like you to know how I thrive on the big points and the big match. During my junior season, I was 10 for 11 on kills to close out games that we won by just two points. I thrive on the pressure of the big points and that is when I perform my best.
To best describe who I am as an individual, I would like you to know that I am a very driven person off the volleyball court, too. In the classroom, I maintain a GPA above 4.0, while taking many honors and AP classes. I am the oldest of 4 girls, and it is extremely important for me to be a good role model for my sisters. Outside of the classroom, I spend time volunteering as a tutor, helping out at athletic events and camps at my middle school and participating in National Honor Society.
