There are not many High School wrestlers who can say they are a varsity lineman, wrestle 195, and teach a three year old Sunday School class. I truly enjoy all three. I love football. I love wrestling and I love teaching young children. I began wrestling when I was in sixth grade. I went the entire year without a win; my record was 0 and 9 to be exact. Last year, as a sophomore, I was voted MVP of my team, was the only wrestler who made All Conference and I qualified for the Fresh/Soph State Tournament. It would have been very easy for me to quit in sixth grade and even in seventh grade, but I loved wrestling too much. Instead of quitting, I decided to train harder, listen more, watch endless videos of accomplished wrestlers, and wrestle off season at the Poeta Training Center in Lake Forest, IL. Much of my endurance paid off this year as I broke the all school record for most pins in a season. The record was set in 1975 with 25 pins and I concluded the season with 26 pins.
In college, I hope to grow in character, knowledge, friendships and most certainly as a wrestler. I give 100% and I simply love to wrestle. I will do whatever it takes to represent my future college in athletics, sportsmanship, character and academics.
