I first began playing baseball eight years ago and mainly played second base. A coach switched me to catcher about three years and I instantly loved it! Although I am still able to play second, I consider my primary position to be behind the plate.
My future goals are to play collegiate level baseball and to graduate with a degree in Sports Medicine. I am a good fit for collegiate baseball because I have strong leadership skills and I am always motivated not only to improve my game, but also to grow as a person. The person I am today has been strongly influenced by my parents. They always challenge me to continue to improve in all that I do.
My current classes consist of honors and college prep classes. Although the academic and athletic workload can be heavy at times, I am able to manage my time effectively and efficiently enough to maintain a high GPA and class rank.
I have been fortunate to have a travel coach who focuses on the mental aspect of baseball as much as the skills aspect. An athlete might have great physical attributes and unmatched skills, but mental game must be trained as well. Through the sport of baseball, I have learned that it is a sport that is guaranteed to have failure. It is a sport that can have you on top of the world at one moment, and in an instant, it can bring you down to your lowest. This is why I have so much love for this game. I feel that it is good to have failure because it is through failure that I learn. Obviously, no one likes to fail, however, it is necessary to help keep me grounded to remind me that everything does not always go the way I would like. I know I will fail at times in my life, but more importantly, I understand that it is necessary to fail in order to learn and to succeed.
