Evan Gilgenbach '22 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Evan Gilgenbach.  I am an honor student from Griswold High School in Griswold, CT.  I am a two-sport varsity athlete and on 6/1/2021, I completed my Junior year as pitcher and first baseman for (Class S) Griswold High School Varsity Baseball. This year I threw over 44 innings, had 11 appearances including 8 starts and 3 in relief.  I recorded 5 wins including 4 complete games.  In my junior year I struck out 73 batters and with only 8 earned runs in 45.1 innings had a 1.60 ERA (regular season).

My love for baseball began at 4 years old playing T-Ball for my hometown little league.  This led to an early call up to Little League at the age of 10 and eventually to 5 appearances in District All-Stars through Jr./Sr. League.   

My passion for pitching was enhanced through many years of pitching lessons with Coach Dennis Long. I have kept my conditioning and training going through the off season since 2018.  At 15 I played up in the Local Chapter of Senior Legion coached by Merek Drabinski.  Pitching in the American Legion bullpen gave me great confidence and experience competing with high caliber high school and college baseball players and coaches. 

Although the 2020 baseball season never occurred, I took it upon myself to continue to train and put in the work. I was pleasantly surprised to play Summer Legion in 2020 and work alongside great coaches who helped me advance in the game.
