Personal Statement
I've been playing baseball since I was four and still love the sport today. While I've played other sports in high school (soccer and basketball), baseball has remained my passion. As a freshman, I went to a school where baseball wasn't taken seriously as a sport--it was treated as a joke. As frustrating as this was, I continued working on my skills outside of the regular practices and helped to make the people around me better.
I consider myself to be very competitive--I like to win. But who doesn't? The key is taking that desire and turning it into action. What makes me different? I give effort at all times--I hustle and control the things I can control. I play as hard as I can and get the job done when I am given a task. I also keep a positive attitude toward my team. I put teammates before myself by encouraging at all times and building the team up.
Before entering my freshman year in high school I was invited to play in a tri-state All-Star Tournament--this was a huge opportunity for me. Not only did it help give me a better idea of where my skill set was at, I was also able to play with other outstanding athletes and compete against them.
As a student in college, my goals are to continue to get good grades, keep my faith strong, and to compete in baseball and use the skills I have to help a team and program be successful.
