My name is Rich Hintz, I am 5'9" and weigh 150 pounds. Baseball has been a part of my life for roughly 12 years and I have loved every day of it. There is not a day, that goes by when I don't want to be out on the field throwing the ball around and having a good time. I have grown up playing baseball, and I was able to learn so much from the game. To me, baseball is not just a game, it’s a passion. Baseball has taught me so many values young adults need to have: discipline, respect, courage, commitment, teamwork and effort. The most important value among these is effort. Every day, no matter how good or bad it is you have give forth your best effort. Growing up, I wasn't the biggest kid who hit a home run or double every time up to bat. I didn't have the strongest arm or the best glove. That didn't stop me, it actually forced me to work harder than everyone else. Giving my best effort every game and practice not only made me a better player but also made my teammates better. So, one person can change the attitude of so many. I've been giving the game my all since I was very young. As I have moved up in leagues, this underlining rule hasn't changed. Which is why baseball is such an important aspect in my life. It has taught me that you can always improve, and hard work will pay off. I will carry this knowledge with me throughout my whole life.

My academic goals for high school consist of being on the honor roll and giving every class my hardest work. I would like to have stronger connections with my teachers and coaches. By the end of my high school career, I hope to know what I want to major in. I aspire to make my teammates better players, on and off the field. Throughout college, I hope to acquire playing baseball and eventually getting a degree of my desire. College baseball has always been one of my goals as a young child.
I don’t know where my college years will be spent but my ideal school would be located or near the lower east coast or southern states. Having friendships through college is very important to me, and I will work hard to earn them, as well as keep the current ones I have from high school. However, if a door was opened at any school that I felt obtained the best coaches and best baseball opportunities for me, I would be open to it, no matter the size or location. If college baseball was offered to me I would take the offer with gratitude no matter where it comes from.
I am honored and thankful that you took the time to read my personal statement. Best of luck for the upcoming season!
Hope to hear from you.
