Personal Statement

My name is Matt Propst and I am a member of the class of 2025. I would like to further my education by attending college and studying Agronomy. I would also like to continue my athletic career by playing baseball at the collegiate level.

I am not afraid of hard work. I help my family on our 600 plus acre farm growing corn and soybeans in Central Illinois. When not working on our family farm I work for another local family on their crop and livestock farm. My responsibilities there include operating machinery, repairs, maintenance, and feedmill operations.

In addition to working for these farmers I am also involved in our district FFA Chapter. I am currently in my second year as an FFA officer in the role of Farm Manager. In this role I am responsible for our 32 acres of FFA farmland.  I also participate in numerous FFA competitions within the district and state levels. I enjoy sharing my knowledge of the farming industry with our younger generations through volunteering at events such as Ag Safety Day.

Over the last five years I have played baseball for Britton’s Bullpen/Southern Smoke Baseball managed by Phil Britton located in Olney, IL. I also play varsity baseball for Neoga Jr. Sr. High School located in Neoga, IL. I am a catcher/1st basemen for both my travel and high school teams. Over the years, I have learned to balance my academics and athletics while also maintaining a 4.93 (unweighted) GPA and a class rank of 10th out of 49 students. I take athletics and academics very seriously and would be honored to have the opportunity to further my education and athletic career at the next level.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
