Personal Statement
Ever since I was little, I have aspired to play baseball at the highest level. I have always believed in the quote, "Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn't work hard." Although I have been blessed with some natural talent, the hard work I put into the classroom and on the baseball field has made me the student and player I am today.
I plan to continue that hard work at the collegiate level by maintaining at least a 3.5 GPA in the classroom while also earning a starting role on the diamond. As a teammate, I lead by example. I practice as hard as I play because I believe the time and effort put into my off field workouts pays off at game time. I have been taught to study the tendencies and patterns of my opponent. I use and share that knowledge with my teammates to place my team in the best position to win. I'm typically the first one on the field and the last one off congratulating my teammates between innings. I seek to help my teammates when they struggle and put in the extra work needed when I am.
Many of the lessons I have learned playing baseball, like facing adversity, meeting challenges head on, and working as a team to overcome common obstacles have given me the tools I need to succeed in life. I am grateful for the opportunity to play this game, the teammates I have played with, and the coaches who have taught me to respect and play the game as it was intended.
