Personal Statement
Hello. My name is Will Cranford and I am going to be a senior at Lancaster Catholic High School in Lancaster, Pa. I have wanted to play at the college level for as long as I can remember. My primary positions are C/OF, and RHP. I have always been a utility player and have played every position except for 1st base. I was asked to try out for catcher my sophomore season to help fill a void. I became the starter and have come to love catching over the last two seasons as a starter. When not catching I will be mostly in the OF. I am also very proud to say that I have been named as a co-captain by the coaches this season. This summer I will be playing my first season with the East Coast Sandhogs, 17U National team. Our coach anticipates me playing OF, and some RHP as well as MIF.
Baseball is the sport I have been most passionate about. It has always provided a way for me to relieve stress and work through things that may be going on in my life. Nothing clears my head better than being on the field or even just picking up my bat and hitting in my garage. I really enjoy the strategy of baseball, thinking about the situations throughout a game and discussing them with my coaches. I have been fortunate to play for some outstanding coaches that have taught me a lot about the game and have made me strive to do my best. While playing, I have also met some of my best friends.
I also became the starting Quarterback for Lancaster Catholic High School my sophomore season. I lettered as a Freshman and had the pleasure of starting the last two seasons. This role has really taught me how to connect with my teammates and the coaches. I earned this position due to my leadership and my work on and off the field. I strive to be the hardest working player for any team I play with, and I want to attend a college where I can be pushed to be my best and have the chance to help our team win.
