Baseball is my passion. I live and breathe baseball. I was meant to be on a diamond. I am sure my parents had no idea how this sport would play such an important part in building who I am as a person when they started me in tee ball at 4 years old. I have been part of a team almost my entire life. The competition, the need and drive to better myself, setting higher goals every time I reach them, and celebrating the success of my team and learning from the defeats... there are so many reasons why I love this game. Whether it's college ball, the minors, the majors or even coaching down the line, baseball will be my future.
My team leadership and my enthusiasm for the game sets me apart from many other players. I am very proud that my teammates come to me for support on and off the field and my coaches rely on me to lead the team by example. As a catcher, I try hard to demonstrate responsibility and commitment to the game. I show up early. I stay late and I ask for more time. I work hard and it shows. I think these roles come naturally to me and have helped me develop my skills behind the plate. I've learned how important it is to build my teammates' confidence and skill because baseball is not a one-man game. As a three-sport athlete, I am really proud that I can say that I work just as hard on my academics as I do in my athletics. I maintain an average of 4.3 in all AP and Honors courses. I also participate in extra-curricular activities like Best Buddies and I work part-time when my schedule allows. I am also looking forward to joining DECA next year.
I have two primary goals that are equally important to me. I would love to find a College program that I love and also play for a coach who is just as passionate about having me on the team. My second goal is to have that baseball program be at a school that offers the academic path that I am interested in. This is important to me because my parents have always taught me the value in being practical and realistic while I chase my dreams. I have so many interests and I plan on pursuing many of them. Like many other high school players, I know my dreams are big but I am planning for a career, not just baseball. I know if I put the work in, I will be successful in anything I do but baseball will always be a big part of my life.
