Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Brady Gibble (2020) and I am committed/excited to play baseball for Old Dominion University in 2020. Currently I am a senior at Wilson High School in West Lawn, PA (6A school) and starting CF (third consecutive year) and Team Captain (second year). My twin brother and I were born on July 27, 2001 in Reading, PA. I am 6’3”, 185 lbs and a left-handed hitter and fielder. My primary position is center field, but I also play corner outfield positions. I have consistently been one of the fastest students in my grade with past 60 yard times verified at 6.46.
In my own words, I love the game of baseball and have been a student of the game ever since I was six years old. I go out on the field and give it 110% every day, and work hard to get better in all aspects of the game. I try to be a leader on the field, by communicating to my teammates and coaches as much as possible. My grandpa (who was drafted by and played in the Oakland A's organization) and father (who played football in college) have been a big influence because they taught and practiced the game with me for as long as I can remember. My coaches have also made a great impact on me, because I would not be the person I am today and have the skills that I have without them. They have consistently told me I am very coachable and have high baseball IQ.
In the past, I have been consistently selected for travel/all-star teams. In May 2019, I was named an All-County and All-Division 1st Team selection for CF - Wilson High School (where I was a Co-Captain). In June 2019, I was selected to The Big 26 Baseball Classic Team PA and Berks/Lancaster Carpenter Cup Teams for the second consecutive year. This past summer I played for the Keystone Bombers 17u National Team.
As a sophomore, I was an All Berks County Honorable Mention (Wilson - starting CF) and Berks Legion League All Star and Underclassman All Star, in addition to being named a starter for The Big 26 Baseball Classic PA and Berks/Lancaster Carpenter Cup Teams.
For the past two falls I was a starting WR and nickel DB for my varsity football team (6A historic program and have played football since I was 6) and led the team and county with receiving touchdown receptions over that time (2019 Berks County All County WR and Lancaster Lebanon League First Team WR /Honorable Mention DB). I also played basketball through elementary and middle school but now use the winters to focus more on strength training, conditioning and skill drills for baseball and football. I strength and fitness train every Monday through Friday mornings with our football team throughout the school year in addition to baseball specific workouts.
Grades are very important to my family and me as I strive to get A’s, and maintain over a 3.5 GPA. When I am not on the field, working out, or studying, I like to spend time with my family and also hang out with my friends and play other sports, such as football, basketball, ski and golf. Everyday I try to become a better student and baseball player.
In conclusion, I would like to let professional baseball scouts interested in me know that I am a hard worker, and will not only try to make myself better, but also my teammates. Thank you for your consideration.
