At the age of 7 I slipped on baseball pants and picked up a bat and ball for the first time. My first season I remember earning the MVP award and ever since that I strive to be not only the best player but person that I can possibly be. I have two siblings who were 4 year 3 sport varsity athletes in high school and both play volleyball in college. I was able to see what their lives are like as they devote so much time and energy to their sports. My dad ran college track and was seconds away from qualifying for Olympic trials. With all of this influence, I feel like I have been shown a glimpse of what it is like to compete at a high level.
My coaches often describe me as someone who is mature, hardworking and committed to getting better at the game. My teammates see me as a vocal leader but also someone who they can go to if they need anything. I volunteer at my local parish by alter serving at weekend masses and serving at funerals and weddings on occasion. It feels good to give my time to my community and I also am able to help newer altar servers as they adjust to the expectations of the role.
I’m a very competitive person not only on the field but in the classroom. I’ve always wanted to be in the highest level classes I can be and being in all honors certainly is a challenge but it is also how I am developing valuable time management skills. Academic achievement is important to me and I will look to study Business or Sports Medicine in college.
