Personal Statement

Sam Matthews

I would love to play at the next level of baseball. I have played many different sports in my life but I've always loved baseball the most. Baseball has been a part of me since I was three. It has helped me in life in many ways. Baseball has always been a way to let all my emotions out. Every time I'm on the field I get a smile on my face and it takes all my worries away. I've always had a strong passion for baseball and have loved it ever since I picked up a bat for the first time.

I would be a great asset to any team because I started playing baseball when I was three. I have a lot of experience playing baseball on many different teams. I played travel ball, varsity in both High School and legion ball since I have been a freshman. I'm very flexible with what positions I can play on the field. I have played every position more than once and I excel at all of them. With that being said, the infield is my strong suit. My three best positions on the field are 2nd, 3rd, and pitcher. As of right now, I throw 80 mph on the mound. My bat velocity off the bat is 90 and I made the varsity all-region team as a sophomore in my past season. I am a good teammate and am always encouraging to all my teammates. In high school ball, I bat fourth in the lineup. On every team I've played on I've had the highest RBIs of all my teammates.

My main goal is to compete at the highest level of baseball. If I accomplish that I want to continue to improve my baseball skills and mature in the sport. My biggest goal in baseball is to be in the MLB. I've wanted to be in the MLB since I was 12. It would be a dream come true if I could make it there one day and I think competing at the highest level of baseball will help me achieve that goal. Competing at the highest level of baseball is my goal for now but in the long term it will help me with my bigger goals in life.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
