I have loved the game of baseball since I was very young. Some of my earliest memories are playing catch with my dad. As I grew, so did my love and devotion to the game. Even as early as my first few years in little league, I set a goal not only to be a starter for my high school (a consistent baseball powerhouse) but to play beyond high school. This has always included playing for a top-tier college baseball program with a strong academic tradition - an environment that will allow me to achieve my potential both as an athlete and a student.
I feel that I would be an important and productive addition to a college team. My coaches have consistently commented to me that I am easy to coach, a team leader, and I consistently show respect to my coaches and my team. Being goal-driven and a hard worker has always been a part of my nature. I think my drive and enthusiasm are contagious; I have always tried, even when my team was down, to motivate and encourage. I would like nothing more than to bring this drive and attitude to a top-tier baseball program.
I feel that my character and athletic ability set me apart. For example, I was recently nominated to attend a prestigious student leadership conference by my baseball coach. As another example, as part of my Eagle Scout project, I organized and ran a drive to collect athletic gear for underprivileged youth in my community.
My high school is well-known throughout the state for its excellent baseball program. I was the only non-upperclassman asked to join the varsity team at the beginning of last season. This gave me the opportunity to play with exceptional players, many of whom are D-I commits. My team has had many successful seasons including the 5A state championship in 2015. I currently pitch for the Marucci Stars and am coached by outstanding pitching coaches, including a former MLB pitcher of 11 years. I have been blessed with a strong physique and have never had any arm issues or injuries. I attribute this to good coaching and a proper and consistent diet and workout regimen.
I have been an honor roll student for every high school semester. I currently have a 4.3 GPA and am interested in pursuing a science degree and graduate work. My other honors include membership in the national honor society for language studies. I have never shied away from an academic challenge and take many advanced and AP courses. I constantly challenge myself to do my very best both on the field and in the classroom.
In summary, I hope to attend a college where I can apply all of the skills I have been working to achieve, in an environment where I can excel and help others to do the same.
