Personal Statement

Hi, my name is Tavaris, I also go by T for short. I'm 15 years old and have been playing baseball for 9 years. As I grew with age I began to love playing 2nd base. I recently have been playing Catcher for the past 3 years. I'm also a pitcher. Starting with playing for our local little league I fell in love with baseball. At 11 years old I bumped up to the senior/ Jr team, consisting of 12 to 16 year old players. I learned alot from playing with older kids on the bigger field from the major field with shorter bases and outfield that I was use to. I progressively found my way to a starting position at 2nd and seeing the pitching mound often. Our coach asked the players who wanted to try out catching and I decided I wanted to learn due to us needing a few more catchers for our next season. I fell in love with the command a Catcher has in the game and the fact that I could learn so much more about the game from behind the plate. Catching also has helped my hand eye coordination and my hitting has greatly improved as well.

As a student to the game I am always willing to learn more and will always respect my coaches request. If asked to try different things I do so, because I am a sponge and will do as needed to help me as a student or player become better. I have learned that helping my teammates and keeping the dugout energized makes the game much more fun. I feel I am the teammate that players come to when they need a good laugh or help with a situation on the field.

College has always been my focus and my grades are the most important to me. I'm an all "A" student and plan on carrying that through my high school years. My interest are in cyber security and computer programming. I am currently taking classes for cyber security.

Off the field and out of season training is a big deal to me. My father has been a great help and has coached several of my little league teams. I have taken private lessons with Jono Brooks on hitting, fielding, and pitching, and currently looking for local training for catching in our area.

I would be a great addition to any team. I have passion when it comes to the game of baseball on and off the field. I enjoy the team, brotherhood aspect and accountability of each player doing their job on the field. I do my best to uplift any player down on their mistake, because I know being uplifted after an error really helps move on to the next play.

My next 4 seasons of baseball I intend on alot of progression, repetition, progress, and soaking up as much knowledge as I can to be ready for the next level after highschool.
