Personal Statement
Jonny Baumann, Living Word Lutheran High School, Class of 2019. Primary Position: Catcher. Secondary Position: Left Field. Hgt: 6'0" Wgt: 185. Bats: R. Throws: R. GPA 3.3. ACT: Not taken Projected Major: Unsure
Baseball Information: Jonny started on his varsity baseball team as a freshman catcher at Living Word Lutheran. He was selected to play on the Wisconsin All-Stars 2016 summer and fall teams. Jonny works hard during the off season by going to camps. This off-season Jonny went to a UWM camp, Midwest Catchers Camp and Carroll University baseball camp.
As a freshman Jonny has a lot of pop in his bat. His bat exit speed was 90 mph verified at Prep Baseball Report ID Showcase Camp. Jonny hits the baseball with gap power to all fields. He has a nice short compact swing with quick hands through the hitting zone.
Jonny has been working hard and has been using the BRX Performance Center (www.brxperformance.com) remote training. His goal entering the 2017 baseball season is to increase his overall velocity by 5 mph to 80 mph plus from the catcher's position. Also he is working on his POP time and wants to go from a 2.19 sec. POP time to under a 2.0 sec. POP time. Another thing he is working on is his speed. He wants to have his 60 go from 7.78 seconds to 7.4 seconds.
Jonny is working with Willie Mueller (former MLB player) at RBI Baseball Academy in West Bend WI. He is working on his foot work, developing a quicker release to go along with a stronger arm. He is also working on his hitting with Coach Mueller. Jonny is very dedicated to lifting weights and doing a lot of band work to strengthen his arm. He also is working hard on his lower half to give him faster feet and an even stronger swing.
What makes Jonny stand out is his work ethic? In everything he does concerning baseball he gives 100%. Jonny's goal is to be the best catcher in our state, class of 2019. he wants to be ranked #1 by PBR. He has a "can-do" attitude.
