My name is Lauren Correll. I am a Junior at Robinson High School, where I will be graduating in 2025. I am ranked first in my class. Academics is super important to me. When deciding upon a college academics will come first then hopefully cheer will be a bonus. I have been cheering for the past eleven years. I have four years of sideline experience and eight years of competitive.
In spring of 2022 I competed at D2 Summit Finals and I thought that was my last competition ever. I was heartbroken but I knew I needed to put academics first so I could not continue traveling hours for practices. During my sophomore year I started researching IHSA cheer competitions. I knew we had the talent to compete. Once I had done enough research I took it to my coach and begged her to take it to the school board. She did, and in April of 2023 Robinson High School had a competitive cheer team.
I just completed my first year of IHSA competitive cheer and it was everything I have ever dreamed of. We started the season very strong with a first and second place finish. We continued to make a name for ourselves the rest of the season. We went to sectionals and got second. Just one point shy of the soon to be state champs. With our second place finish we qualified for state. We competed day one and we finished in the top ten so were moving on to day two. We were the only first year team to make it to day two. We hit another amazing routine on day two to earn seventh place in our first ever season!
I know what it takes to be successful. And I'm always willing to go the extra mile to do so.
