Personal Statement
Playing field hockey is what I really love to do and my goal is to be accepted to a well-respected four year university with lots of school spirit and play on their field hockey team. I am dedicated, hard working and fun to be around and I know I would be an asset to any field hockey team that would have me. I believe I am a leader both on and off the field. My goal in college is to graduate in four years with a degree in my chosen field. I have not fully decided what I would like to study in college at this point but I am very interested in the criminology/criminal justice field.
I was introduced to field hockey in 6th grade. I had been an avid soccer player since I was 6 years old and they were looking for girls to join our school field hockey team. I agreed to try field hockey and I have never played another game of soccer since that day. In California, field hockey isn't a very well known sport so it is a challenge to find places to play but I don't let that stop me. My family drives nearly an hour each way a few times a week so that I can play for my club team. I also travel to tournaments and camps around the country as much as I can. I hope that one day I can provide opportunities for more girls in California to experience the sport of field hockey without having to travel so far from home and enjoy the sport as much as I do. Playing at the college level is one of the pieces to the puzzle that would afford me the opportunity to do that.
