Sophie Buchowski '26 Recruiting Profile

As a highly motivated and determined student-athlete, my goal is to attend a prestigious university with a challenging academic curriculum and a competitive field hockey program. I've been playing field hockey at a high level for Aim Field Hockey for the past eight years. I have attended multiple tournaments and have been selected to play at the Nexus National Championship. This past fall 2022 season, I was a starter for the varsity team at John Burroughs School. I believe that my dedication to both academics and athletics makes me a strong teammate and person. I have a strong work ethic and a passion for field hockey which I have demonstrated through my consistent improvement and dedication to training. Furthermore, I am a team player who is able to work well with others while maintaining a positive attitude. I am confident in my ability to make a valuable contribution, both on and off the field. I understand the importance of being a good teammate and am willing to make a difference in any way I can to the team's success. 

In addition, school is very important to me, and I have consistently maintained a high level of academic performance throughout school so far at John Burroughs. I am enrolled in the most rigorous curriculum my school has to offer and earn the highest grades possible in these advanced courses. I am the 9th-grade secretary and treasurer and am an editor for my school's literary and art magazine. I also am involved with the BioMedical Sciences Club and Model UN. All in all, I enjoy being challenged both in the classroom and on the field, and I believe my characteristics and goals would make me fit to play field hockey at a school with a competitive academic and athletic program!
