Personal Statement

Work Hard. Live Pure. Lead With Courage. Honor the Team. Since my Freshman year of high school, these values have been introduced to me through my football team. And they guide me in how I make my daily choices and decisions. For example, I grew up learning that after I worked hard, I got to play hard. And that is the reason I would be a good fit for any collegiate team. In addition to academics, I have developed my toughness and grit throughout my experience with football. I learned to persevere during my sophomore year when I did not receive playing time. I needed to choose to either work harder to improve myself and earn the starting spot or give up my dream of playing football. Not only did I decide to work harder to earn the starting spot, but I also honored my team by cleaning up after each practice, filling the waters, and practicing hard for the team to succeed. It was a difficult season, but it solidified my desire to play football. In fact, this year, I earned the Lead With Courage award for leading my team both on and off the field. It made me proud that my choices on how I live are a good example to my teammates and coaches. My commitment to working hard on and off the field with early practices, footwork drills, and working out has also now earned me the QB1 position.

Similarly, when it comes to academics, I push myself to do my best in all my classes, even the ones I do not particularly like. I enjoy Honors Physics, Advanced Math, Robotics, and other sciences. And I push myself to succeed in Honors English and Spanish even though they are not my passions because my academic goals require strong grades in all my classes. I want to pursue an education so that I can choose a job that I enjoy and where I can help others with my ideas and creations. Finally, my goal is to make a difference in the field of Engineering and football. I love football. I enjoy learning. Because of this, the thought of pursuing football and academics excites me. I look forward to making a tangible difference in my community using my skills in football and engineering.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
