As a member of an eight-man high school football team, my football path has been different compared to others. The stereotypical high school football experience of hundreds of fans, large school spirit, and playing in big televised games hasn’t been in my football cards. These aspects of football that appeal to many kids haven’t been things that I’ve experienced. Rather, for me Crystal football means a chance to change a program and open people's eyes. A chance to achieve a league championship for a program that has yet to achieve one. What makes me want to play football is the opportunity to play for something more with a group of brothers. This is especially true at a school like Crystal Springs where academic prowess reigns dominant, and often that overshadows the athletic department and by proxy the football program. In my years of playing sports at Crystal, it’s become vitally important to establish the sports programs as real programs that can win ball games and titles. Unlike other athletes, my athletic career has been highlighted by changing the narrative around Crystal sports while also keeping up with the rigorous academics here. This has taught me to fight every game and lead my teams into matches with the underdog mentality that allows us to surprise and upset other schools.
I will bring this hunger and attitude to my college experience.
