Sam Young '24 Recruiting Profile

Hello Coaches. My name is Sam Young and I would like to express my gratitude to you for reading my personal statement. I am a SS/3B/RHP who attends Crystal Springs Uplands School (CSUS) in Hillsborough, California. CSUS is one of the nation's most academically challenging high schools (#17 on Niche.com). Being an athlete in a rigorous academic community is challenging, yet I believe this challenge is preparing me well for being a collegiate student-athlete. Additionally, I pride myself on having an "underdog" mentality. Ever since I was a kid, playing collegiate baseball at the highest level has been a goal of mine because I know that I have what it takes-even though I am a top student at a top academic school, I have consistently demonstrated that my baseball skills regularly match the top national talent that I face every summer. One of my key strengths, on and off the field, is leadership. This is evidenced through my many individual athletic and schoolwide leadership awards I have won at school. I am a student/athlete with a mindset that “good” is not good enough and I will always work harder than my peers.  I believe that these core qualities will serve me well in my quest to be an elite player at the next level.
