Personal Statement

My name is Peyton Barragan, my positions are safety, defensive end, and wide receiver. A undefeated senior year and competing in the finals in both my junior and senior year  has been the highlight of my football journey thus far.  The growth and my determination has not been from the undefeated seasons. It was from the come back. My freshman year we didn’t win one game. I kept at it, studying plays, completing drills, the gym, and forming a bond with my team. The determination, the hard work, the growth we made individually and as a team has shaped my into the young man I am now.  For 13 years I have been on the football field, from youth football to my senior year. Football IQ is very important to me. This year I was captain of the team and I was MVP in both my junior and senior year. I enjoy playing both sides of the field. I have been a varsity starter all 4 years of high school playing 90% of every game.  Defense I averaged 11.8 tackles a game with 5 sacks, 4 interceptions, 6 passes defended, and 10 tackles in 10 undefeated games. I rushed 21 times for 300 yards, with an average of over 14 yards per carry and 6 TD’s. As a receiver I caught 18 passes for 248 yards with 5 TD’s. This is my passion, this is my life, this is where my personality and confidence shine, where I can be fully myself. Through this journey I have learned the value in the team work. It’s not only about showing up everyday it’s about what you can do on and off the field. One team on family is my mind set. My dream would be to be able to continue this football journey in college, I have been working towards this opportunity since I was 5 years old.
