I am a three sport athlete and out of the many years of playing these sports (Football: 10yrs, Baseball: 12yrs, Rugby: 4yrs) I have learned a lot about myself and the process it takes to be successful not only in sports, but in life. Through baseball I have learned to focus on the minor adjustments and the mentality needed to succeed at the sport. I have learned how essential proper mechanics/fundamentals are in improving my game. This then translates to my other sports and to life. In baseball I have learned how to fail and what it feels like to fail consistently, but still keep my head in the game. In football I have learned the importance of mental and physical toughness. My last season, our team played 15 games, 10 of which I was a part of due to transfer rules. My toughness showed throughout the season and paid off as we won a CIF championship. This experience allowed me to feel success and know what it takes to get there, not only for me but for a team. In rugby I have learned how to lead a team and be a team player. As my rugby coach says, "It takes 14 men for 1 knucklehead to score." This taught me the importance of being able to work with a team to better each other. Over my many years in athletics I have developed the ability to focus on the fundamentals and minor adjustments to improve my game. I have learned what it is like to fail and keep going, the importance of not only physical but my mental toughness, and my ability to be a team player.
