My name is Caleb Oney. Currently, I have a 4.0 GPA. I have always valued academics, as I have consistently made either the A Honor Roll or the A/B Honor Roll. Even during the pandemic, I was a virtual student for the entire 2020-2021 academic year and made the A Honor Roll. My parents worked every day outside of the home, but I demonstrated discipline, routine, and a strong work ethic and managed to maintain my grades and finish the school year early. While I do put in a significant amount of work to maintain my grades, my ability to understand skills and apply them comes naturally to me. When thinking about a college or university, I would love to be challenged academically.
Prior to moving to Georgia during my sophomore year, my previous school was extremely challenging for me. I faced quite a bit of adversity, which really forced me to work myself up to where I am now. As a freshman, I was one of the best receivers on the team, but due to my size, I never got to play in the games. I put in all the hard work during and outside of practice, but sadly for me, I still did not get to play. This was both challenging and discouraging. My parents have consistently taught me that hardships abound in life, but I have a choice in how I respond. With that, I learned to remain loyal to a team even though it was hard. Fast forward to today, I live in the state of Georgia due to my dad receiving a new job opportunity. Today, I am a starter on varsity, and I continue to put in the hard work to get to the next level. I have grown in size; however, I am not where I want to be, but working at it. I value my athletics as much as my academics. I want to play at a very competitive level in college.
I would describe myself as a leader, loyal, and passionate. When I think about leadership, I think about being willing to act and do what needs to be done. Leadership really centers around serving others and setting an example for people to follow. Loyalty to me means to always stick with something no matter the problem or challenge. I am a very passionate person, when I love something, I love hard. I don't just like the game of football, I love the game of football. I put in effort on and off the field and work hard every day.
