Max Hornsby '22 Recruiting Profile

I actually grew up playing ice hockey, and I began playing when I was 4 years old. For 9 years, through my junior year of high school, I played goalie for my hometown youth hockey travel team. Playing goalie helped me develop and improve my balance, quickness and agility.  I started playing football in high school, and although I missed my Freshman season after I fractured my wrist before our first game, as a Sophomore I started at defensive tackle on our Junior Varsity team, it was great.  In the Spring of 2021, as a Junior, I was a starting Varsity offensive tackle and also played some defensive tackle during our shortened 6 game Illinois high school season. My Senior year I earned a spot on the 2021 Pantagraph (Central Illinois newspaper) All-Area Team, and the 2021 Illini Prairie All-Conference Team after I started at Offensive Tackle and  also started at Defensive Tackle and Defensive End.  Central Catholic may be a Class 2A size school, but we only play larger Class 3A and Class 4A schools on our conference schedule.  My goal is to have the opportunity to continue to use my skills and play at the college level.
