Prep Baseball Sho...My name is Patrick Mulcahey. I am a Junior at Central Catholic High School in Bloomington, Illinois. I started playing baseball when I was five years old and fell in love with the game at a very young age. I also tried other sports while growing up. I wrestled for a youth wrestling club and I played youth football. I had a lot of success in both wrestling and football. By the time I reached the 7th grade, I knew that baseball was my first love. It was around this time that I began working with a former professional baseball player. My teachers and coaches have helped me elevate both my skill level and knowledge of how to play the game. I have also learned that it takes a lot of work and dedication to play at a high level. I am personally committed to doing the work to get better every day.
Being on a High School Varsity team as a freshman and sophomore, I have been given the opportunity to lead and set an example for my fellow underclassmen. I am committed to helping my team get better by going to the baseball field as much as I can for batting and fielding practice. I try to get as many players, both Varsity and JV, to join me in the drills and preparation outside of scheduled practices. I believe we can get better as a team if everyone commits individually to get better. I try to set an example in my work ethic and approach to baseball preparation.
I believe my work ethic in baseball is also how I approach my school work. I am a competitive person and I challenge myself to get an “A” in all of my classes. I understand how important my education will be for me in life. I have two parents and siblings that have set a good example for me. My oldest sister is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago and my middle sister is a junior at the University of Alabama. My father is a CPA and my mother has a business administration degree. They both attended Illinois State University. They have set good examples for me of how success in life can come from higher education.
In addition to playing baseball, I enjoy watching professional baseball with my family. We are devoted St. Louis Cardinal Fans and we enjoy going to games in St. Louis and watching the Cardinals on television most every day. In addition to spending time with my family, I enjoy hanging out with my friends. I have many friends that are involved in other sports and I enjoy watching them play and supporting them by being present at their games.
