When I moved to Eden Prairie my friends all seemed to play football. They encouraged me to join the following year. Before football, I played soccer, basketball, ran distant track races, participated on swimming teams at the state level in Indiana and sailing. I had played on several teams through my school and the community and even participated in state some state competitions in swimming. I enjoy the activity and competitions.
I initially started on a swimming team in Eden Prairie but football quickly became a passion of mine. As I learned about the game I fell in love with it and enjoyed the friends I had made.
Entering high school a new chapter began for me in football. I began to learn the new position of running back and continued learning the linebacker position. My first year I focused on learning our plays and worked on strength, speed and agility when not on the field. I was a starter in both offense and defense on the freshman team. I enjoyed learning the new aspects of the game.
My sophomore season proved to be an exciting and challenging season. I was pulled up to varsity to play special teams (both kick off and return) and second defense. I continued to learn the positions of RB and LB. Daily I would lift weights with the varsity and practice with the 10th grade team, JV, and varsity teams to prepare for each weeks game. It made for some long nights and busy weeks with football but I believe I learned a lot and soaked up every minute of the sport. I enjoyed the time spent learning and playing the game. I enjoy the challenge and always give everything I have on the field. I became a dedicated student to the game. To ensure I could focus on football after school I worked hard every morning before school and made plans as needed with my teachers to make sure I could maintain my GPA in honors and AP classes.
I am excited to learn more about the running back and linebacker positions and have been placed as a starting middle linebacker for the Eden Prairie Varsity Football team. I have grown in my knowledge of the linebacker position and enjoy making adjustments each week to fit against each opposing teams offence. I continue to learn how to read other offenses and study the teams we play each week. I will be working hard on learning linebacker and running back techniques as I continue to work on my strength, speed and agility. I am willing to learn every aspect to make sure I play at my highest level possible.
I would consider it an honor to play football in college and continue to learn the game I have come to love.
