My name is Zach Larson. I just started my Senior year at Blaine High School in Blaine, Minnesota. Playing football has been a passion of mine since I could walk. I began organized sports at an early age with t-ball and flag football where I learned the value of being part of a team and it has only grown from there. I played travel baseball, basketball, and football until the age of twelve then turned my focus to football and baseball up until my freshman year of high school.
During summer baseball, my freshman year, I was sidelined with a bad break to my tibia, fibula and growth plate which required two surgeries, screws being placed in my ankle, and an extensive amount of physical therapy. I am proud to say I am back to 100% now, but I was unable to play football in my sophomore year due to this injury. Being sidelined for the season taught me a lot about how hard I can push myself mentally and physically to achieve my goals and get back to being even healthier than I was before. During my injury, I kept myself busy by working with a personal trainer at ETS Performance and would help my football coaches by keeping stats and determining play calling to keep me involved with the team during the games. I learned even more about the game from my coach’s perspective.
To continue with strengthening my leg and building my endurance I decided to run track during the spring. I participated in the 100, 200, 4x100, and 4x200 races. I learned a lot about pushing myself and teammates as we raced against one another then came together as a team to compete in the relays. Track was a sport I had not participated in before and am glad I am a member of the team now.
I just finished my junior year of football where I started as the JV running back and kick/punt returner. I was back up running back for Varsity and played special teams having the opportunity to be on kick return the last few games of the season. I am looking forward to being our starting running back my senior year and utilizing my strengths of speed and ability to read the field to help my team have a successful season.
My main attributes are my positive outlook, work ethic, being coachable, and desire to win. I am of good moral character and would make a good addition to the right school.
