I started playing flag football at the age of 5 and fell in love with the game after making my first touchdown at the age of 7 at the quarterback position. Football season is a tradition in my family. I have been watching football and attending University of Hawaii-Manoa college football games ever since I was an infant. My father was on the University of Hawaii-Manoa 1992 Holiday Bowl team. And over 100 of my family members attended the 2008 Sugar Bowl game between UH-Manoa and Georgia. While I don't remember too much of that experience since I was only three years old, the memories my family shares of that trip excites me and I look forward to making my own college football career memories.
Through the years I have played almost every position. I've attended various position camps but came to realize that I love the defensive side of the ball. My main position is Defensive End but has also played as a Linebacker and Tight End. My strength is my "get off" or my first step off the ball. A lot of that has to do with my off-season training.
Since I was 12 years old, I trained with Coach Paul Alferez of Phase 1 Sports Hawaii. Since moving to Las Vegas in March 2021, I began my off-season training with Coach Rolle of Five Star Linemen Academy.
Academics and playing football have been my focus over the last several years. However, when I was in the 8th grade I was unable to play due to an injury so I helped my dad coach a youth football team. In my opinion, football is similar to chess as you are trying to anticipate your opponent's next steps and counter their moves. I finally realized that in all the years that my dad was coaching, he wasn't just teaching football but also life skills and lessons. It was about the players more than the game. What an eye-opening experience for me.
This coaching experience combined with my volunteer work during the pandemic has led me to my passion. My goal is to continue my football career in college and then pursue a position as a football graduate assistant. I hope to make an impact in the player's life through the game I love.
